ISSA Yacht Crew Course
This beginner’s course will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to become a useful crew member on a sailing yacht of up to 24 metres.
By the end of the four days your students will be capable of sailing a small yacht in every direction it is possible to sail in. They will understand how to work as a part a crew and respond to the Skipper or Mates commands. The 5 day course ends with a trip to an outlying island or local bay. Students anchor in the bay at lunch and then have their packed lunch and usually a swim in the clear waters of tropical Thailand. We sail back to base after lunch and conclude the course with a certificate from the school.
Information about the ISSA Yacht Crew Course
A ISSA Yacht Crew Course handbook is provided for each student. This is a 90% practical experiential learning course for beginners, with an instructor in attendance, on every boat.
We have a maximum instructor / student ration of 6:1 on our ocean cruising yachts. High quality teaching is the key to learning quickly and our programme is approved by ISSA.
Non-swimmers will be able to participate in all our courses as PFD's are mandatory for all students.
Check out the course curriculum, in the table below, to review what will be taught and what is entailed in bringing your students to an Outdoor Education in Asia Yacht Crew Course.
